Checklist for an Effective Website

Graphical Elements: What image do you want to portray to your audience? What color scheme will you use?

Photos: Will you use your own, custom or stock photographs?

Email Address: Will you need Email or Email Forms from your site?

Keywords: What keywords will bring the most prospective clients to your site?

Style: What look will compliment your chosen style? Find sites that you like and then tell your developer what you like or do not like about them.
Fonts: Clean, Formal or Art Style?

Color Scheme will enhance any image and impact your budget.


 
Layout

Links: What will your linking policy be?
Will you allow external links?
How will you maintain the reader's attention if you allow them to wander away?

Tables: Generally accepted and used, will they clutter your site or help the user?

Frames: Considered Cool, but not fully supported. Will they attract or alienate your users? How can frames help you?


Promotion

How will you promote the site both on an off the web so that you can attract the most number of users?

On Web: Which search engines and directories will suit your goals?

Off Web: Do you have a comprehensive promotion campaign that includes your domain name on all printed material, voice mail and other marketing efforts?


Follow-up

Maintenance Schedule: Once your site is up and running, it will provide your customers and prospects with information about your product or service. Will the web site be dynamic enough to bring them back? How will you maintain changing dates, contact information and product updates?
